Overview
There are pieces of TPC Sawgrass Players Stadium Course in the club's second course, Dye's Valley. Behold the pot bunkers and deep grassy basins around greens. See the water hazards lined with bulkheads, and the large mounds bordering many of the holes. The arcing fairways with inside hazards are present too, creating just enough uncertainty on the driving line to make even good players uncomfortable. All of Pete Dye's tricks and trademarks (as interpreted by Bobby Weed) are here with the exception of an island green par 3 (though there's a peninsula green angled over water), just in smaller doses as the routing wends out through a residential section. But it's exactly what's needed for a high end public club's "second" course--just enough of the top course to whet the appetite, but at a fraction of the price and demand.

“Challenging in true Pete Dye fashion the Valley Course forces the player to move the ball in different directions and avoid frequent penalty areas. Greens with half the frontage on water and railroad ties can bring pin placements into play making the player think twice about aggressive lines. The course was in good shape but had experienced quote a bit of rain the week before, I assume it plays hard and fast as its neighbor next door typically. Enjoyable course that clearly has had some tweaks made over the years."

“This Pete Dye designed layout is surrounded by numerous water hazards as well as tree lined fairways insuring that the golfer must focus on accurately navigating most shots through the course. While the course is not exceptionally long, even from the tips, numerous dog legs over water hazards put emphasis on carrying accurate irons onto the greens. The course conditioning was impressive and the risk reward opportunities increase the "fun" aspect of the course. The par 3s are especially interesting with water coming into play on errant shots particularly on the 5th and 11th holes. While the course winds through a housing development, the significant water hazards, the rolling landscape and the Pete Dye signature rail ties throughout the course, minimize the golfers focus on elements outside the golf course."

“A second course to the stadium course and built much softer for the residents to play. Still a challenge but playable."

“A very nice course to play when visiting the more famous Players Stadium Course. Very typical Florida course in that there is water on one side of virtually every hole, but a bit atypical as the Valley course presents some elevation change and mounds on the opposite side that complicate approach shots if you play too conservatively away from the water. Bring extra balls if the winds are up as fairways aren't the widest I've seen."

“Greens a lot faster, more challenging that Stadium, I believe because of prep for Players Championship."

“This course is very repetitive. The condition is all Bermuda grass."

“Dye's Valley is a fun course to play. It is a course with plenty of water, but it is possible to avoid it with a little common sense. The course does not have the amazing bunkering like the Stadium course at Sawgrass. It is a fun place to play and should be enjoyed. After the round, go and tour the clubhouse and the great memorabilia."

“Must eat breakfast from the clubhouse veranda and soak up the ambience; enjoyable and playable layout; mounding, bunkering and water offer challenges; the conditions are what you would expect at TPC Sawgrass."
