Overview
Designed by Joe Lee on the eve of the South Florida golf boom of the 1980s, this private club between Lake Worth and Boynton Beach feels like an oasis amid the noisy urban sprawl. The core course has no home development around it and is buffered from the surrounding neighborhoods by canals and forest buffers. Lakes and lagoons come into play on 11 holes, and a renovation by South Florida specialist Kipp Schulties brought out the vibrancy of the holes and a more playful, sweeping mode of bunkering.

“The greens are enormous with subtle breaks that create a challenge if approach shots are missed on the wrong side or not well struck. There are a number of bunkers on the course, both fairway and green side, but most can easily be avoided. They do create depth perception problems on some holes, making the approach shots a little tricky. There was not much run on the fairways, but the greens ran very well. Although the course is almost 7200 yards, it doesn’t feel that long due to a lot of the extra length occurring on two 600 plus yard par 5s and a very long par 3. There was a lot of differentiation between the holes, which made for a fun round. The vegetation on the course, along with the lakes, made it aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Errant shots are not provided much sympathy as the vegetation is fairly dense throughout. On some holes, especially 1 and 2 it would be nice to have enough trouble to keep it hard, but at the same time, leave some areas where errant shots can still be salvaged with a solid recovery shot, which is prevalent on other holes."

“Similar to other Florida golf courses in the prevalence of water and bunkering, but lack of any housing makes it a bit of a treat to play. Very pretty surrounds makes for an extremely enjoyable round."
