“The layout runs through a development, with several holes having lengthy distances between green and next tee, so walking is not likely. Fairways wind their way through mounding and bunkering, which frame hole directions nicely. Bunkers are prevalent, some of which give the golfer more to think about than is necessary, given they are not really in play if the proper line is taken. Greens are large, many with tiers and contouring, making pin placements key to the challenge of the hole. Conditions were not very firm, fast or true but were generally in good shape. Bunkers werer ecently renovated and were in great shape."

“A public course routed through a residential community, Back Creek sits on very flat farmland straddling the Maryland/Delaware border. The course has definitely fallen on some hard times, as conditioning was suspect with weeds growing in bunkers and soggy fairways full of divots. It packs a decent challenge stretching to over 7000 yards from the Back tees, but is playable for golfers of all abilities with few forced carries and fairly generous fairways. The layout reminds me of your typical Florida residential course, with long walks between holes and houses lining many of these holes. This certainly detracts from the aesthetics and character. All in all, there are some fun holes but I have a hard time seeing this compete for Best in State in Delaware."
