“The greens are large and undulating and require you to fire at the pin. Nice variety of hole designs challenging all levels with a mix of length challenging long hitters as well. The Red course is a bit more challenging than the Blue from the tips but not alot of variety. A bit disappointing for a Donald Ross design. Red course is basic back and forth with little variety and minimal memorability to holes from hole to hole. Blue course has more design variety and undulating greens making shot making more a premium."

“Overall in fabulous shape. Recent tree removal has improved the conditioning and play of the course. Very fair with generous fairways."

“Hartford Golf Club is a fun walk down and up a sloping treelined terrain. Par 4's and 5's are pretty standard holes, with bunkers left and right off the tee. Recent bunkering rework has helped the hazards. Grass on the upper side of most was pretty heavy, making it for interesting recovery shots. The best stretch of the golf course was 7-9. A cape style par 4 with a heavy right to left fairway and green starts you off. The uphill 200+ 8th hole allows for some interesting run up shots to the flag. Finishing off the 9 is an uphill par 5, allowing a big drive to go at it in 2. All in all it was a great walk."

“Hartford Golf is a strong golf course from start to finish built on an undulating piece of rolling hills. This old school layout was presented well with greens that rolled nicely. Not overly long but requires golfers to hit many different types of shots. The bunker renovation completed in 2017 has elevated the course. The layout is fun and appears to meld together despite being structured as 3 9-hole loops. I particularly enjoyed the par 4 7th on the Red Course that offers compelling angles from the tee with a creek in play down the left side. With the exception of the 8th hole on Blue, I would have appreciated a bit more variation on the par 3s as many of them played to similar distances."

“One of the best conditioned courses I have played in the Northeast this year. The remodel removed most of the Ross features and it works well. Greens still have undulations but they seem more natural and in character with the rest of course. One negative that impacts design variety is overuse of fairway bunkering at similar distances on several holes. Best course in Hartford County."
