Overview
Less than 10 miles east of downtown Denver, CommonGround is a public layout designed by Tom Doak. The course—home to the Colorado Golf Association—plays on relatively flat terrain, and many fairways are framed by tall native grasses, giving the track a links feel. The fairways are generous, but well-placed bunkers pinch the landing areas in at strategic places, making the course playable for the average player yet more challenging for the low handicap.

“CommonGround is a fun, challenging and accessible Tom Doak design just 15 minutes from downtown Denver that offers many of the same design features and quirks found at courses such as Ballyneal and Pacific Dunes, albeit on a less-gifted site. The course offers plenty of variety and scoring opportunities, including several very reachable par 5s, balanced by a challenging stretch of long par 3s and par 4s on holes 13 through 17. A must-play in Denver!"

“Nice public course. Pretty flat. If you want a challenge here, play from one tee further back than you would normally play. Not a top Colorado course but certainly a fun course to play with half a dozen pretty challenging holes."

“CommonGround is a very well done modern public course that uses classic design principles to create an interesting but challenging test for a wide range of golfers. Created on largely flat ground that formerly housed a bland military base course, CommonGround provides interest for the average public golfer and design subtleties that an experienced eye can discern. “Getting a tee time can prove difficult but I really enjoyed Common Ground. If you are staying in Downtown Denver, this can be a little bit of a hike, but I think it is worth it. If you have the opportunity to choose your time, best to play in the morning during the summer as pace will be fine and the afternoon typically brings solid wind gusts. Enjoyable course for all levels."
