“Excellent use of land for various holes of differing lengths. Par 3s are really fun with great drops from tee to green on some of them. Fun course to play with challenging putting surfaces."

“Wente is very fun public course created by Greg Norman. His first superintendent is an old friend and I played the course at least 50+ times. Cut into the vineyard property of the Wente Family Winery, there are grape vines on virtually every hole. The routing is good and scenic but requires a cart to navigate (especially the transition from #9 to the tee box on #10). Norman's strategic use of bunkers and the ever-present grape vines puts a premium on shot accuracy into the fairways and the greens. Recovery is readily available around the greens, but an aggressive shot can easily be turned into a high score should it find the grape vines. Fairways are firm but not consistently fast. Wente chooses to over-water to keep the course as green as possible. The greens are large and can be very fast due to the heat of the Livermore Valley. The course is fun and will challenge every level of player. Elevation changes take place all around the course. Par 3's that go up hill (#3), down hill (#7, #11, #14) and par 5's that can be reached in 2 with a well struck tee ball (#5, #15). This course has some local wild life to be aware of before you wonder off into the rough. Rattle snakes / gofer snakes, bobcats, tarantulas are normal during the summer months."

“The greens are very receptive and amply sized with little difficulty in front or on the sides of them, so an up-and-down is pretty reasonable. The ambiance was a bit campy but fun. The wine barrels for balls on the driving range and the imitation of Lombard Street in SF for the 250-foot rise at the turn were unique and kind of fun. Overall, Wente is a solid and enjoyable course"
