“Compared to other courses in the area, Steele Canyon is lower tier than La Costa, Torrey, Aviara and RSF and several others. Jamul is 25 minutes from downtown San Diego. Holes feature dramatic elevation changes as they wander up, down and through canyons. Don't even consider walking it. If you're not a straight hitter, have a dozen old balls with you. You will lose a few. While a few holes have width, there are few if any parallel fairways. On several, there is no bailout line. Hit it straight or pull another one out of your pocket. Greens are posted at 11 Stimp. On some hilly courses that would be excessive, but these greens are reasonably contoured given all the elevation changes."

“Truly a mountain terrain golf course. Extremely challenging for a first time player of the course to determine shot direction and carry. Very challenging and very good conditioned greens."
