“Perched on a hilly site, Spanish Hills is a very pretty and challenging layout that has excellent views of the surrounding area from its elevated location. The clubhouse and facilities ware excellent and the dining room flows into a deck with panoramic views. Most holes are tree lined and the layout winds up, down and around the undulating terrain. Like most courses in the area where land is so valuable, the course is laid out in areas not necessarily conducive to building homes, therefore you have to accept a large dose of elevation change, shortish holes and frequent blind shots as dictated by the terrain, although all can be overcome with better familiarity after playing the course once or twice. The greens are smallish with mounding or undulations that makes longer or downhill putts a challenge; the greens are firm, fast while being receptive to well struck shorter clubs. On the front nine, Hole 2 is a beautiful, fair three-shot par 5, and the monster 254-yard par 3 sixth will catch your attention with appropriately, the largest green on the course. The back nine finishes well as 14, 15, 16 and 17 gives you the flattest stretch on the course to try and score, and the 18th has the prettiest and most challenging green complex after a blind tee shot - it's a short second shot over water but hit enough club with spin, to carry the water and hold a sloping green, no where to bail!"
