“Located in La Quinta, in the Coachella Vally, this difficult Pete Dye Course (1986) is open to the public , but also has a private component to it. The fairways are bordered by large mounds or large lakes on many of the holes. The fairways are undulated and well as the greens. The are lots of hazards lurking, like forced carries over water, long bunkers that run the length of some of the holes, deep greenside bunkers"

“Dramatic challenging golf course played on relatively flat terrain course with minimal hole movement left or right (six holes had doglegs). Rolling fairways were expansive and bordered by well place bunkering and steep grass canyons / run off areas which effectively resulted in elevated fairways creating driving accuracy challenges. Greens were of moderate size and were firm and challenging to hold. Very deep green side bunkers and steep run off areas created challenges in hitting effective approach shots and scoring. Great finishing holes starting with the par 5 16th and its deep deep green side bunker, the par 3 17th played downhill to an island green and the par 4 18th bordered the entire length by water."

“Has some great par 3s along with a couple hero shot opportunities. Fairways fairly wide but some require precision but the swells funnel off center shots back to middle. Great shape."

“Challenging resort golf. Very fair and suitable for both high and low handicappers. Beware of the water on 9 deep off the tee. And the par-3s have more water than they should since its the desert. Work this one into your rotation while in La Quinta"

“A touch softer than the Stadium but a lot of fun. Some really tough shots but is fun to play from the correct set of tees. Plays fast and firm which is nice."

“Number 8 is a great par 3! With the water, the shape of the green and the pin on the left, it's an intimidating tee shot. Number 15 is a fun and interesting par 5 with the Island green and No. 18 is a good finishing hole. As with all the courses there, it is in very good shape."

“The Nicklaus Tournament course is a fun course to play, pretty straight forward on the front nine, and quite challenging on the back 9. Fun and good value overall. A nice course to play other than the Championship course."

“Winter condition was very good with the overseed."

“You'd better have really soft hands and a great short game feel. The elevated greens surface punish a lack of finesse. And you're playing through a housing development for the entire round. Conditioning was great. But the round was slow."
