The Body-Swing Connection

Dave Phillips

When it comes to working on your game, nothing beats having a simple plan. In this program, teacher and swing researcher Dave Phillips shows you the one key move he discovered in the great players he has tested. Now you can build it into your swing.

Swing Basics

There are many ways to swing a golf club, but according to teacher Dave Phillips, there’s one thing all the best players do, represented by the acronym S.P.A.C.E. Here, Phillips will show you how they do it, how to find out where your swing falls, and what you can do to get better.

The Tests

To take advantage of Dave Phillips’ swing research, you first need to identify your problems. Do you block shots to the right? Pull them to the left? Do you hit the ball fat or thin? In this video, Phillips shows you how to link what you’re doing in your swing to how your body works.

Are You Steep or Shallow?

After you’ve learned how great players deliver the club, you need to find out where you stand: Is your swing too steep or too shallow? Here, Dave Phillips demonstrates a number of ways you can identify your swing tendencies, the issues they might be causing, and how to fix them.

Drills to Fix Steep

For players who identify that their swing is too steep, the problem is usually the upper body starting the downswing instead of following the lower body. Dave Phillips offers some simple drills designed to improve the downswing sequence and shallow out the motion.

Short Game Application

You can apply many of the full-swing concepts from the previous videos to your short game. In this final video, Dave Phillips focuses on how to make consistent contact and control trajectory and roll-out around the greens. Plus, how the body-swing connection applies to putting.
