It is going to be a wild week at the Wyndham Championship. A field of 156 players heads to Sedgefield Country Club to compete in the final regular season event of the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup season. The top 70 and ties will advance to the playoffs in Memphis, but not before a serious test from Mother Nature. Hurricane Debby is currently forecasted to hit the Carolinas later this week. Who of these playoff hopefuls have a chance to withstand the weather and contend in North Carolina?

The top 70 cutoff created some serious drama last season. Remember Justin Thomas’ trip to Sedgefield a year ago? His chip on the last hole Sunday lipped out, leaving him one spot shy of a playoff berth. JT made the postseason cut this year, but his spring break buddy Jordan Spieth is not yet in the field—so he's playing for the first time in Greensboro since 2020! Spieth sits 63rd on the points list. A missed cut and an excellent week by those behind him, and Spieth can be eliminated. If you ask our betting expert Chris Powers, his chances are slim already.

Stephen Hennessey and I are both fading Min Woo Lee. Seems as if it is tough to cook in the rain. Lee missed the cut at Royal Troon and played mediocre at the Olympics. Both he and Jordan find themselves around 30-1 on the betting board Monday morning. A tough take since each one has only had one top 10 since April. With trying conditions, I’m focusing my attention on short game and especially putting to differentiate yourself

Watch the below video for our favorite bets and players we're fading for the 2024 Wyndham Championship:

Eric Cole is gaining a combined five strokes on the field (per start) over the last five with his around the game acumen and flatstick. Excellent on Bermudagrass, Cole will score in the soft, windy conditions. Sixth at the Rocket Mortgage and seventh at the John Deere, Eric has regained his Rookie of the Year form. At +7000, I’m taking Eric Cole on Monday to win the Wyndham. Cole finished 14th at Sedgefield last year, and it inspired an excellent run of play in the fall. Following the Wyndham, Cole grabbed four top-five results in seven events.

Gaining an average of three strokes on approach at the Rocket and John Deere, his iron game is ready to contend again. Cole’s putter always makes winning possible and will be the deciding factor along with his wedge as he grabs his first career victory in Greensboro at the Wyndham.
