WGC-Match Play odds 2023: Scottie Scheffler favored to go back-to-back in Austin

Scottie Scheffler's dominant, year-long run continued at the Players Championship two weeks ago, and it might very well continue this week at the WGC-Match Play. The World No. 1 is the defending champion, and he is the solo favorite (10-1) to go back-to-back at Austin Country Club.

Should Scheffler win his group and reach the final match, it will be the third consecutive year he's done so in this event. Two years ago, he came up just short against Billy Horschel. Last year, however, this event is where he picked up his third victory in a six-week span. Two weeks later, he won the Masters.

He could do something similar this week. With a win, he'd have three victories in five starts, and he'd be the overwhelming favorite to win a second consecutive green jacket in two weeks time. Rory McIlroy, who is 12-1 this week, and Jon Rahm (14-1) would likely be co-second favorites close behind.

After Rahm and McIlroy comes Patrick Cantlay at 15-1, followed by Jordan Spieth (22-1), who is coming off a top-five finish at the Valspar Championship.
