Toulon Golf 2025 Collection putters: What you need to know

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The Toulon Golf 2025 Collection of milled putters features 10 models, including a version of the iconic “2-Ball” mallet. The varying head styles often feature multiple hosel offerings, and throughout the line there’s a distinct emphasis on creating a softer feel. The key element behind the push toward softness is the switch to 304 stainless steel, along with a new face milling pattern. The latter includes a deeper mill than was found on the 2024 Toulon putters, enhanced by a finer over mill layer, designed “to control the amount of sound that gets picked up by the golfer’s lead ear.”
PRICE: $600. Three blades (Hollywood, New York City, Austin); seven mallets (Las Vegas, Alcatraz, Alcatraz Mini, Carlsbad, Miami, Atlanta, Charleston). Lengths: 33-38 inches. Loft: 3 degrees (plus custom).

3 COOL THINGS
1. Softer side. Company founder and industry veteran Sean Toulon has seen many trends in the equipment game come and go across his decades in the business. One that never strays too far from the main is the idea of softness in putters. Hence the push to make it the focus for his 2025 collection of milled putters, not just in the notion of sound and feel but the overall aesthetic, too.

Las Vegas
“The design theme as we go through the whole line is softer, more refined, with incredible detail paid to every edge, every chamfer, every radius,” Toulon said, noting that the new gray “anthracite” finish even accentuates the subtle shape shifts. “We think the new face milling really helps bring the sound and the feel down into a little bit softer range.”
The refined softer sound also comes courtesy of different thicknesses throughout the line in terms of cavities, rails, even hosel shaping. But, of course, the main influence on that softer feel is that new milling pattern on the face. It incorporates an initial deeper milling, what Toulon calls “deep tuna,” followed by a lighter, finer over mill. Toulon equates the milling pattern with the tread pattern on a tire, suggesting that as the tire channels moisture away from the flat contact surface, the milling pattern here selectively channels vibrations for a cleaner, muted sound and feel.

2. Mallet mission. Unlike most milled putters the Toulon collection shows a distinct focus on catering to the increasing use of mallets, both on tour and in the marketplace. More than double the offerings in the 2025 Collection are mallets or mid-mallets. Notable options in the latter category include a downsized version of the company's popular Alcatraz (Alcatraz Mini), a slightly stretched out Atlanta and the relatively tiny, ear-shaped Charleston.
But it’s in the area of larger milled mallets that the Toulon line has found some resonance, as well. The high moment of inertia Alcatraz with its back bar framing a window in the flange is the largest mallet in the family. All of the larger mallets (Las Vegas, Miami, Carlsbad) benefit from a weight-saving, milled aluminum sole plate, as well as heel and toe weights in the front of the sole that add stability, consistency and sound control.

The Carlsbad is the eye-catcher for its iconic 2-Ball alignment look, an opportunity afforded the Toulon brand through its relationship with Callaway-Odyssey, where Toulon was senior vice president and general manager of Odyssey from 2016-23. Co-founder Preston Toulon highlighted the way the aluminum sole plate pushes the mass of the heavier steel to the perimeter and how the iconic two circles on top of the putter offer a sleek all-black alternative to the traditional 2-Ball look.

“It's just an ultra-innovative shape with beautiful blends, beautiful radii, beautiful edges, seamless curves, smooth transitions, all that create just a beautiful aesthetic package that's so easy to align,” he said. “It gives you so much confidence as the putter rests behind the golf ball.”
3. Classic redux. The three blades (Austin, Hollywood, New York City) offer familiar names and shapes, but all present tweaks this year aimed at providing a softer overall vibe. The Austin features softer bumpers, a wider cavity and a more radiused top line. The wider-bodied New York City features the aluminum sole plate to yield more stability. Even the Hollywood, a new model, presents a slightly smoother approach to its more straight-line, square-ish appearance compared to the Austin. Its lineage is to Toulon’s previous San Diego and Santa Monica shapes with softened shoulders and bumpers and increased radii in the various curves for more gentle movement in the overall shape. Like all the standard length mallets, the blades in the 2025 Collection also are available in a “heavy spec” with heavier heel and toe sole weights and a heavier 15-inch grip.

“Every putter in the blade collection has been totally redone,” Sean said. “We went through every radius, every edge and made it more refined. The 304 stainless-steel is a little softer and allows us to machine it really slowly to help us bring out the nuances of the different milling patterns.”
