    Save for later

At No. 27 in the Team USA standings, Jordan Spieth is a longshot to automatically qualify for the Ryder Cup. But there's always a chance the three-time major champ could be one of Keegan Bradley's captain's picks. And he's made it clear that he'd like to be at Bethpage Black next month.

Spieth was on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio on Wednesday when he revealed what he's been saying to Bradley in an effort to improve his chances of wearing the red, white and blue again. And, well, they're not the most subtle hints we've ever heard.

"I keep trying to convince Keegan that it would be a lot for him to have to play, too," Spieth says, prompting laughs from the show's hosts. "He should probably give up that pick."

    Very smooth, Jordan.

"I'm trying to open up all the opportunities I can," Spieth continued. "But I can also go take of business myself."

Of course, Spieth is referring to the unusual position Bradley finds himself in as both the captain and at No. 10 in the current U.S. standings. It's caused plenty of speculation—and debate!—over whether Bradley will and should be a playing captain. Anyway, here's the clip:

The top six in the standings after the conclusion of next week's BMW Championship automatically qualify for the team with Bradley filling out the rest of the roster with six captain's picks following the Tour Championship. So Jordan has a few more weeks to jockey for position—both with his clubs and his mouth.
