Michael Brennan is one of the longest hitters in the game, ranking third on tour at 327 yards per tee shot. Add in accuracy and you get his third PGA Tour title, which he grabbed at the Baycurrent Classic.

Brennan hit an incredible 55 of 60 fairways (91.7 percent), including all 15 in the second and final rounds with his 9-degree Titleist GT3 driver.

“It's important to hit the fairways at this golf course,” Brennan said. “With the Zoysia grass rough, the ball is a little more unpredictable than some of the other grasses that we play. I feel that the ball jumps more often and goes very far, so you have a lot more control when you do hit in the fairway.”

This model has a taller face height and a potentially flatter ball flight than the GT2. Designed for golfers who tend to hit down on the ball and who use a 3-wood off the tee. The adjustable weight track in the front of the sole distributes weight in one of five locations from heel to toe to better fit a player’s flight preferences or typical impact locations. Features a new thermoplastic-polymer-matrix crown (also used for the GT drivers) that weighs one-fifth as much as the surrounding steel. The GT3 uses a high-strength 465-steel-alloy face insert that bends around the sole in an L-shape to enhance flexibility low on the face. The leading edge features a flatter sole curvature that allows the front of the face to sit tighter to the turf for optimal ball speed and spin. Top 5 in Performance, low- and middle-handicaps 15, 16.5, 18 degrees (with a 16-way adjustable hosel)

Brennan’s driver takes full advantage of its adjustable features, with settings resulting in plus .75 degrees of loft and .75 degrees upright lie angle. The movable weight is in the heel producing a modest draw bias and more ball speed on shots hit heelward.

Still, it wasn’t just the driver.

“I thought our game plan this week was maybe even slightly more conservative than normal," he said. "I didn't hit a ton of drivers. There were a few holes where I actually hit less than driver where some of the guys hit driver, which is very I would say uncharacteristic of me.”

Brennan’s other weapon is a prototype GTS 15-degree fairway wood that he put into play at Colonial earlier this year.

“I've kind of bounced around to a couple different 3-woods this year,” Brennan said. “It's been great. I feel like the spin consistency is better with that 3-wood for me. So when I toe the golf ball, it doesn't go too, too far. When I heel it, it doesn't spin too much, and it stays relatively consistent.”

Consistent enough to hit 90-plus percent of fairways and earn tour win No. 3.
