Nick Dunlap will lead the field at The American Express as he attempts to defend the title he won a year ago when he became the first amateur to win a PGA Tour event since 1991. En route to the historic win, Dunlap also set the tournament's 72-hole record at 259, holding off Christiaan Bezuidenhout by one shot on the Pete Dye Stadium Course at PGA West despite making a double bogey on the par-4 seventh hole.

Along with the 21-year-old (who turned pro less than a week after his victory), major champs Justin Thomas and Wyndham Clark will tee off in the California desert on a rotation of courses—Dye's Stadium Course, La Quinta Country Club and the Nicklaus Tournament Course at PGA West. So with a handful of other top-tier pros, including Patrick Cantlay, Billy Horschel, Sungjae Im, Sam Burns, Tom Kim and Tony Finau. Meanwhile, Nick Taylor will be looking to keep the good times going at The American Express after his Sony Open playoff win on Sunday.

Another notable in the field: 17-year-old Blades Brown, who will be making his first professional startafter turning pro last month. The high school is playing on a sponsor's exemption; he has played in one previous PGA Tour event as an amateur, finishing T-26 at last year’s Myrtle Beach Classic.

This week's winner will receive a $1.584 million first-place prize money payout from an overall purse of $8.8 million, and 500 FedEx Cup points.
