Srixon's ZXi5, ZXi5+ and ZXi7 irons: What you need to know
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Srixon’s second iteration of its ZXi iron lineup is designed for practically every player type. Featuring three distinct models (ZXi5, an all-new players-distance ZXi5+, ZXi7) and a utility (ZXiU) on the menu, it’s possible to mix and match irons boasting different materials, face designs and internal construction.

1. Feeling it
The irons are created with a proprietary forging process called i-forged. The process combines condensed forging techniques with heat-softening procedures to strengthen specific high-stress areas of the iron head while maintaining softer material properties throughout the rest of the club to achieve the level of feel players expect.
Enhancements to Srixon’s proprietary forging process help strengthen the material surrounding each groove as well, thus ensuring longer groove efficacy, all while maintaining the core hardness of the face material.
“Every decision was made with feel in mind,” said Casey Shultz, senior product manager for Srixon. “It's the hallmark of Srixon Irons and something we've always refused to compromise on. With this generation, we pushed that philosophy even further, creating irons that perform at the highest level while delivering the rewarding sensation golfers instantly recognize when they've hit one pure.”
For ZXi5, ZXi5+, and ZXiU Irons, the new MainFrame iQ system uses AI-assisted design and thousands of simulated impact scenarios to create a more efficient face structure. By reducing face mass as much as 8 percent and repositioning weight throughout each head, engineers achieved faster ball speeds, increased forgiveness and more consistent performance across the face.
AI also played a role in the creation of the new ZXi7 iron. By Utilizing AI-assisted simulation tools, engineers expanded and optimized the forged ridge positioned directly behind the sweet spot. The redesigned PureFrame iQ structure stiffens the impact zone, reduces unwanted face deformation, increases stability, and utilizes mass more efficiently than the previous generation to produce the soft, responsive feedback preferred by highly skilled players.
2. It’s got the look
Every iron in the ZXi lineup has been refined with input from Srixon's global tour staff, including players such as Shane Lowry and Keegan Bradley. The new generation features slightly thinner toplines and cleaner visual transitions throughout the set, creating a more compact and confidence-inspiring appearance at address. Blade lengths, sole geometries, and offset progressions have been refined to meet the specific performance objectives of each model while maintaining a cohesive family appearance for seamless combo set integration—a point of emphasis for Srixon.
3. All about sole
The heel and toe notches found in the sole of each iron—and even the ZXiU utility—are known as Srixon’s Tour VT Sole, a unique design that improves turf interaction and impact through a higher bounce towards the leading edge and lower bounce towards the trailing edge.
For irons at the top of the setup, a wider sole is generally used to avoid inconsistent impact and unwanted digging. But not every player wants a beefier sole. The V-shaped sole design and notches in the heel and toe keep the width manageable by providing relief where golfers tend to need it the most. The notches also make it easier to achieve better contact when it’s necessary to choke up or down on a sloped lie where the head might be toe-down or toe-up at impact.
The effective bounce also increases in the higher lofts to match the steeper angle of attack players tend to take as they approach the short irons.
Because everyone wants things unique to them, Srixon is expanding its customization options to allow golfers to tailor both performance and aesthetics to their individual style.
Players can select from a range of custom paintfill options, ferrule designs, and grip configurations to create a more personalized set. Extensive loft, lie, and shaft fitting options are also available across the entire ZXi lineup, enabling precise optimization of launch conditions, spin characteristics, and gapping. For combo-set builds, the unified shaping and progressive weighting profiles across all four models allow for seamless blending, ensuring consistent look, feel, and performance transitions throughout the set.
