Inbee Park’s gold-medal winning performance in golf’s return to the Olympics in 2016—combined with her 18 LPGA wins and seven majors—raised her already well-known profile in her native South Korea. Just how high was demonstrated on Friday during the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Pyeonechang, South Korea, when the LPGA Hall of Famer was given a prominent role in the festivities.

The 29-year-old helped deliver the Olympic flame as one of the last torch bearers to run inside the Olympic Stadium before the Olympic Caludron was lit by figure skater Yuna Kim to open the 23rd Winter Olympiad.

Another famous female South Korean golfer also had a part in the Opening Ceremony. Se Ri Pak was among the athletes to carry South Korea’s flag that was raised along with the Olympic flag.
