Sad day for Bubba's family
Bubba Watson announced some sad news today through Twitter.
Watson: "Everyone it's a sad day for my family!! My dad has passed."
You may recall that Watson got very emotional when talking about his father, Gerry, during a pre-Ryder Cup press conference.
"My dad is dying of cancer," Watson said two days before play started at Celtic Manor in Wales. "The doctor says he's got three months to live. I'm playing this for him and representing the United States."
Unfortunately, he didn't even get that long.
Watson also got choked up in front of the media at the PGA Champmionship in August when talking about his dad and a cancer scare involving his wife, Angie. Fortunately, that turned out to be nothing, though it added to what has been a rollercoaster year for the long-hitting lefty.
At least Watson has racked up plenty of positives in 2010 as well, including an inaugural to the Ryder Cup and a win at the Travelers Championship in June, his first victory on the PGA Tour.
