Ryder Cup picks 2025: Odds and betting analysis for each Day 1 foursomes match at Bethpage Black

Finally, we have Day 1 pairings for the 2025 Ryder Cup! The longest week in golf is complete—and we have Friday’s opening session of foursomes (alternate shot) upon us.

The Americans chose foursomes to begin the festivities at Bethpage Black, despite dropping to an early 4-0 deficit in the format at the last Ryder Cup. That means captain Keegan Bradley must have a little extra conviction with these picks.

Let’s see what the oddsmakers say about the Day 1 foursomes pairings.

7:10 a.m. (eastern): Jon Rahm/Tyrrell Hatton (-120, odds from DraftKings) vs. Bryson DeChambeau/Justin Thomas (-105)

Without a doubt, this match will set the tone for the morning. Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton went 2-0 in foursomes in Rome, and the duo have developed their chemistry more playing together on LIV over the past two years. This is one of the strongest duos Europe has, and so we’re a little surprised they’re not a bit of a bigger favorite. Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas really need to open the festivities with a strong showing to set the tone for the other three matches—at least taking this to 17 or 18. I’m not sure that’ll happen. I’m giving the edge to the Europeans for their consistency and experience together in this format.

Pick: Jon Rahm/Tyrrell Hatton (-120) 🇪🇺

7:26 a.m.: Ludvig Aberg/Matt Fitzpatrick (+135) vs. Scottie Scheffler/Russell Henley (-170)

Aberg went undefeated in foursomes in his Ryder Cup debut in 2023, but that was with Viktor Hovland, so it’s a bit of a surprise Luke Donald broke up that duo. Matt Fitzpatrick played very well to end 2025, ranking third among all Ryder Cup participants in SG/total over the past 36 rounds. So if he can bring that form to pair with Aberg’s talent, perhaps they can make this match competitive. But Scottie Scheffler will be a strong favorite in any format and with any partner, and he was great with Russell Henley at the last Presidents Cup, so we will certainly not pick against the World No. 1.

Pick: Scottie Scheffler/Russell Henley (-170) 🇺🇸

7:42 a.m.: Rory McIlroy/Tommy Fleetwood (-180) vs. Collin Morikawa/Harris English (+140)

McIlroy and Fleetwood are the biggest favorites in the opening round session, which makes sense to us—though we do like Harris English and Collin Morikawa as a foursomes pairing with their consistency. English is a sneaky dog in this format with his consistency. But the Rory/Fleetwood pairing is a huge task. Even if the Europeans are not holing a bunch of putts, Morikawa isn’t known for his putter—so it’s unlikely the Americans will have enough firepower unless the Euros are totally off.

Pick: Rory McIlroy/Tommy Fleetwood (-180) 🇪🇺

7:58 a.m.: Robert MacIntyre/Viktor Hovland (-105) vs. Xander Schauffele/Patrick Cantlay (-120)

Another nearly even matchup on paper with the Americans the slight favorite. Oddsmakers are probably sleeping on Xander a bit because his form was not great in 2025. We think Cantlay will bring out the best in his buddy, and Cantlay had a sneaky good FedEx Cup playoffs run. Robert MacIntyre is a bit of a question mark here—it’ll be interesting to see how the Scot handles the hostility of the New York crowd. If we get the best version of MacIntyre, this will be very competitive, but we still think there’s some value here with the formidable and proven American pairing.

Pick: Xander Schauffele/Patrick Cantlay (-120) 🇺🇸

The afternoon fourball session is scheduled to begin at 12:25 p.m.
