FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — The opening ceremony for the 2025 Ryder Cup has been rescheduled due to the threat of inclement weather.

The PGA of America announced Tuesday that the event, historically conducted the day before the competition begin, will instead be held on Wednesday. Current forecasts show rain is expected to be in the Bethpage area Thursday afternoon, necessitating the move.

A pre-show will begin at 3 p.m. on Wednesday with the official ceremony slated for 4. Those who had tickets for Thursday’s event will be admitted onto the property on Wednesday as well.

One tradition that will remain on Thursday is the captains’ announcing their lineups for the first session. Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald are expected to announce Friday’s foursomes pairings around 4 p.m. at a location still to be determined.

The current forecast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows little chance of sustained rain. Around 50,000 fans are expected to be on site at Bethpage for each day, with President Donald Trump scheduled to appear on Friday afternoon.
