Hi, I'm Tom
Based off this video, Rory McIlroy seems to have zero clue who Tom Holland is
We take it that Rory McIlroy isn't the biggest "Spider-Man" guy. That, or he's partial to the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies. Or the Andrew Garfield ones (just kidding, nobody is partial to those).
As for the Tom Holland ones, it would seem McIlroy has seen exactly zero of the three, nor has he seen any of the Marvel cinematic universe films Holland also graces everyone with his presence in. And if that's the case, kudos to Rory for not falling victim to all that garbage.
That said, Holland is a pretty famous dude, and I would imagine he'd be extra famous in his home country, England, where the BMW PGA Championship is being held at Wentworth this week on the DP World Tour. It's an annual tradition that a number of celebrities from the UK show up for the Pro-Am, including actors, athletes and musicians. Holland was actually there last year, too, his jaw famously dropping over a Jon Rahm tee shot. On Tuesday, Holland strolled up to the range with a few baskets of balls to warm up for the Pro-Am, and he introduced himself to McIlroy. Based off the semi-awkward exchange, we feel comfortable saying that McIlroy has absolutely no clue who Spidey is:
That was ... icy. The type of reaction McIlroy would give to a random 12-handicap dad who happened to be playing in the Pro-Am that week. Couldn't even come up from fiddling through his bag to give Holland the time of day.
For those who think we may be reading too much into this, let's compare McIlroy's reaction to seeing tennis star Andy Murray on the same range:
Rory went up to him to fanboy out! Yeah, he 100 percent did not know who Tom Holland was. Here he is yucking it up with soccer superstar Gareth Bale, too:
Poor Tommy H. His last Spider-Man movie made nearly $2 billion worldwide and McIlroy was more interested in grabbing a few tees out of his bag than having a wee chat with the lad. It's tough out there.
