The social-media buzz created by Rickie Fowler’s new high-top shoes and fresh pants at Kapalua should surprise few. Rickie’s unique style often sparks conversation.

Inspired in part by friends Keegan Bradley and Michelle Wie wearing high-top golf shoes last year, and his penchant to move the fashion needle, Fowler asked Puma for a similar look in 2016.

The result is what you saw at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.

“I wanted my own take on [this look],” Fowler told Golf Digest. “It’s something fun, something to bring my personality into it.”

Fowler worked with Puma’s head of golf shoes, Grant Knudson, and the apparel team to come up with his 2016 look. The shoes are a high-top variety of Puma’s Titan Tour Ignite line that includes laces and Velcro across the top.

"I wear high-tops all the time for golf," Fowler said. "The shoe guys at Puma on the golf side and the lifestyle side got together and did a great job of collaborating."

The pants are the usual six-pocket pants Fowler has always -- with elastic added to the bottom.

Even fellow pros took notice. “I wear high-tops and jogger pants working out,” Jason Day said. “It’s a good look.”

Danny Lee added: "If anyone could pull off that look, it's Rickie. He looks good in them. Not everyone would."

Puma does not have the shoes or the pants available to the public, but the company says there will be a social-media giveaway soon.
