PXG Sugar Daddy III wedges: What you need to know
What you need to know: PXG brings the next installment of its fully milled wedge to the market, the 0311 Sugar Daddy III. This update expands the line to three sole grinds with 12 loft/bounce options. The heads are fully milled down to the final shape for more precise sole grinds, bounce angles and shape consistency. The three sole grinds include a forgiving BP-grind named after company founder and CEO Bob Parsons.

1. Groove Move
Among the changes with the Sugar Daddy III are a combination of wider grooves and tighter groove spacing. The wider grooves not only channel more debris but allows the cover of the ball to engage with the grooves better, enhancing spin and trajectory control. The tighter spacing allows one more groove (16 compared to 15 on Sugar Daddy II).

2. A Boss Move on Grinds
When Parsons, the company founder and CEO, wants something, he gets it. In this instance, the continuation of the BP grind on a high-toe profile clubhead with grooves that stretch across the entire face. The grind has a generous 12 degrees of bounce, a blunt leading edge and a wider sole with minimal taper in the heel and toe areas. Combined these traits make for a very playable, forgiving wedge for a variety of shots for the player with a relatively steep angle of attack.
Also continuing is the C-grind, featuring heel and toe relief and designed with a lower pivot point so the leading edge stays closer to the ground when a player opens the face at address to hit certain shots. An S-grind has moderate sole width, a beveled leading edge and 10 degrees of bounce to accommodate a wide variety of shots.
“The BP grind is ideal for players seeking a little more help with a tendency to dig,” said Mike Nicolette, PXG’s senior director of R&D. “The C-grind is a great all-around club for firmer conditions and players that are a little shallower. The S-grind meets those two in the middle.”
3. A progressive take on center of gravity
The Sugar Daddy III takes mass away from the lower portion of the clubhead by using variable-depth sole ports and moving that mass to the upper portion of the clubhead. This moves the CG higher in the higher lofts to maintain trajectory control.
