Patrick Reed horribly tops ball, still makes birdie
Patrick Reed warms up on the range during the second round of the World Golf Championships-Workday Championship.

How do you know when it's your day? For Patrick Reed, currently leading the WGC-Workday Championship, it's when you literally top a ball and still manage to make birdie on a difficult hole. Watch him play his second shot on the par-5 third. It's one of the worst shots you'll see this week, but he recovers immediately with a brilliant bunker shot:
My favorite part of that clip is the announcer intoning that if Reed went in the bunker, "that is going to be tough," followed immediately by Reed sticking it to four feet as though he was hitting an 80-yard approach.
Reed is the defending champion at this event—it was played in Mexico last year—and also won in his last start at the Farmers Insurance Open. More holes like this, and he'll go back-to-back on both fronts.
