    Cracking Down

Pat Perez hints at a major (wardrobe) change coming to LIV Golf in 2025

    February 06, 2025

One of LIV Golf's many early selling points was that the players would be allowed to wear shorts, something the PGA Tour only conceded on for practice rounds in the last few years. But on LIV, you could ditch the trousers anytime, anywhere.

For the golf purist, this was another reason on the laundry list of reasons to not to the Saudi-backed tour seriously. But, if you've been paying attention of late, there are some moves being made that would indicate the powers that be are taking LIV much more seriously now. Most notably, the USGA announcing on Wednesday that there will be direct pathways into the U.S. Open for LIV players starting this year.

According to LIV Golfer-turned LIV on-course analyst Pat Perez, the LIV tour is planning to take itself more seriously in 2025, too. That is, if you believe that everyone wearing pants as opposed tyo showing off the calves makes your tour a serious one:

With this week's season-opener, LIV Golf Riyadh, taking place at night in Saudi Arabia, we're guessing not many players will be opposed to this major change. We'll see if they are singing that same tune in sunny Singapore next month, the example Perez used in the clip above.

Now, the question is, is this a mandated move from LIV, or is this something the players have decided is the best move going forward. Judging by some Getty Images from Riyadh so far, Perez's sources are on the money with this one. Here's Jon Rahm's entire Legion XIII squad rocking slacks in their presser:

As for Anthony Kim, well, he's always been one to do his own thang:
