Past PGA Tour winner has perfect reaction to old Tiger Woods highlight being posted

    Save for later

If you're a hardcore Tiger Woods fan, you probably remember the 2011 Australian Open. You also probably stayed up late into the night to watch as Woods, decked out in his traditional Sunday red, made a back-nine charge Down Under. But even if you did, you might not remember how it ended.

Tiger was trying to win for the first time since his 2009 scandal so the event held more significance to him than normal. But despite a Sunday 67 that included a thrilling chip-in on the 11th hole, Woods' winless drought continued thanks to . . . Greg Chalmers.

Anyway, on Wednesday, the tournament posted a highlight of Woods' eagle from that day. And Chalmers had the perfect reaction:

Well played, Greg. Both with that tweet and on that day. Not many people can say they've held off Tiger Woods (and John Senden) on a Sunday. Here's proof:

And Chalmers—now 52 and playing well on the PGA Tour Champions—stayed hot, winning the Australian PGA Championship two weeks later. Quite a run for the Aussie, who won his lone PGA Tour event at the 2016 Barracuda Championship.

And, of course, Woods would eventually end that winless drought a few months later at the 2012 Arnold Palmer Invitational. And then he'd win a lot more after that, including the 2019 Masters and a record-tying 82nd career PGA Tour title.

But back in November of 2011, Greg Chalmers was on top of the golf world. And we don't blame him for taking the opportunity to remind everyone of that this week.
