This video of Max Homa's son greeting him at the airport after 'heartbreaking' season is proof there's more to life than golf

Just a month ago, Scottie Scheffler’s press conference on golf and life heading into the Open Championship went beyond viral. The World No. 1 spoke about what he wants out of the sport, what it means to win majors and what fulfills him.
"Every day when I wake up early to go put in the work, my wife thanks me for going out and working so hard. When I get home, I try and thank her every day for taking care of our son," Scheffler said. "That's why I talk about family being my priority, because it really is. I'm blessed to be able to come out here and play golf, but if my golf ever started affecting my home life or it ever affected the relationship I have with my wife or my son, that's going to be the last day that I play out here for a living.”
It doesn’t matter if you’re winning majors, à la Scheffler, or in a bit of a rut; it’s nice to have that reminder to put things back in focus and make your priorities clear. This brings us to this heartwarming video of Max Homa, returning home after an up-and-down season in which he finished 111th in the FedEx Cup Standings, well outside of postseason qualification.
@lacehoma This year on tour was filled with heart break and disappointment for my husband, but we could not be more proud of his hard work! We're always so inspired by his ability to get up and go back to the course every day and try something new. He never stops and I am so grateful Cam has an incredible father to look up to! We are so lucky he's ours! 🤍 #Homecoming #pga #surprise #pgatour #golf #golfer #golffamily @Max ♬ Little Things - Adrián Berenguer
“This year on tour was filled with heart break and disappointment for my husband, but we could not be more proud of his hard work!” Homa's wife Lacey posted. “We're always so inspired by his ability to get up and go back to the course every day and try something new. He never stops and I am so grateful Cam has an incredible father to look up to! We are so lucky he's ours!”
Cam Homa’s obvious excitement is palpable here, and it’s tough not to smile while watching him greet his dad with enough energy to fuel a small town. It wasn’t the best of seasons for Homa, but a greeting like this must make it all worth it.
You know things are precious when even the comments are overwhelmingly positive, with most saying something to the extent of “it may not have been the ideal season, and yet, this is certainly what matters most.” We don’t disagree. And by the smile on Homa’s face, he seems pretty happy with where he is.
