    Hatchet Job

Watch this DP World Tour pro lose his freaking mind and take a chunk out of the fairway following poor shot

    November 18, 2024

Just four months ago, in a raw, honest and vulnerable post-round "Green Room" interview, England's Matt Wallace opened up about how hard he's trying to be more positive on the golf course. As he went on to explain in the clip, it's a difficult attitude change to make for someone as emotional as he is on the golf course.

For guys like Wallace, or his fellow Englishman, Tyrrell Hatton, it might just not be possible for them to avoid a classic case of golf rage. We saw that with Hatton on Saturday at the DP World Tour Championship, where he exclaimed "f--- you, f---ing s--- greens" after missing a short birdie putt on the 11th hole. A few holes later, Hatton snapped a wedge in two. On Sunday, Hatton wrote "be nice" on his glove as a reminder to at least try to keep his cool.

Then there was Hatton's fellow Brit, Wallace, who was just five off the lead of Rory McIlroy on the back nine. Wallace missed a green at the 14th hole and there was not much to be positive about. So he wieled his iron like an axe and chopped down on the fairway like he was splitting a log in two for a fire:

Already a poor look, it gets worse when you noticed what X user Andrew Gallagher points out in his tweet above - Wallace, nor his caddie, fixed the mess he had just made. A tough scene.

"Tough call on who is more petulant," another X user wrote. "Matt Wallace or Tyrrell Hatton? Two absolute bellends."

I'm not quite up on my British slang, but I know "bellend" is not something you want to be called. Seriously, what's in the water over there in England? It's just golf, guys. Deep breaths. Be nice to yourselves, and more importantly, to the course.
