    Save for later

Viktor Hovland has made five eagles in his six Masters starts—which means two things: 1. He’s better at golf than everyone reading this. 2. He has five crystal glasses gathering dust in his house. Well, until his friends come over and he has a chance to “flex” in their faces.

For those unaware, if you make an eagle at Augusta National, the club will send you a crystal highball glass with the Masters logo and the word “eagle” etched into it. Most pros probably use them for dinner parties or when the rest of the cups are in the dishwasher. Viktor Hovland, one of the liveliest pros, uses them to troll his buddies. Because, of course, he does.

Here’s the extremely on-brand conversation he had with a reporter following his practice round on Monday:

Reporter: “Do you know how many eagles you've had here?”
Viktor: “No idea. I've had a few, but not super many, but I've had a few.”
Reporter: “What do you do with the crystal glasses?”
Viktor: “Just keep them in my house, just to flex on my buddies whenever they come over.”
Reporter: “Whenever they come over do you serve stuff in them?”
Viktor: “I have. It doesn't happen very often, but I have.”
Reporter: “Is there just a cabinet just for those?”
Viktor: “Yeah, I don't spend a whole lot of time in my kitchen, but they're in there somewhere.”
Reporter: “Are you ever scared of breaking them or your buddies breaking them?”
Viktor: “I would just have to make more eagles.”

"I would just have to make more eagles" with the slightest smirk at the tail-end of the quote is infuriating, because beneath the jokes, there's a bit of seriousness to Hovland's claim. He'll have many more chances to pile up those eagles ... and crystal highball glasses.

Easier said than done, of course. Unless you’re a seven-time PGA Tour winner with top-seven (or better) finishes at every major. Perhaps this’ll be the year for Hovland to win the whole dang thing. You know his buddies would never hear the end of it.
