Masters 2026 tee times: Pairings for the second round at Augusta National

AUGUSTA, Ga. — The first round of the 2026 Masters is complete, and a familiar name is atop of the leaderboard. Rory McIlroy might have been a bit distracted earlier in the week by his duties as the defending champion, but he didn't show it on Thursday en route to a opening-round 67 that put him in a share of the lead early with Sam Burns. The Northern Irishman made just one bogey (the par-4 third) and birdied Nos. 13-15 to become the first defending champion lead the next year after the opening round since Jordan Spieth in 2016.

McIlroy will have to wait until late Friday afternoon to keep the momentum going, playing in second-to-last pairing (1:44 p.m.) along with U.S. Amateur champion Mason Howell and Players Championship winner Cameron Young.

Conversely, Justin Rose goes out early on Friday (9:55 a.m.) and hopes to pick up where he left off late Thursday. The Englishman shot an opening-round 70, the 11th time in 21 starts at Augusta National in which he posted a score of 70 or better to start tournament week. If Rose could pull out the victory this week, he'd break the record for the most Masters start before slipping on the green jacket
