Masters 2025: Bryson DeChambeau adds to his legend with unexpected visit on eve of final round

    April 13, 2025

If you've watched any post-round Masters coverage this week, you know that Bryson DeChambeau loves hitting the range after his round. Even if it's dark out.

But over the weekend, the two-time major champ took that love of practicing under the lighs to the extreme. Away from Augusta National.

Ahead of DeChambeau's final-round tee time, Colt Knost shared the following photo of the guy trying to win a green jacket hanging out at some random guy's backyard green:

Pretty cool. And the story gets even better.

ESPN's Dave Wilson tracked down Paul Pearman, an Augusta local whose house received an unexpected stop on Friday night. Apparently, Perman has a really nice backyard setup and when he flicked on the lights, it caught the attention of DeChambeau who was taking a walk around the neighborhood where he's staying this week.

After introducing himself to the homeowner, DeChambeau started tinkering around with different clubs as he's known to do on his YouTube channel. And Pearman quickly got his wife to change back out of her pajamas. Neither could believe Bryson was actually in their backyard. Here's a photo Pearman shared with ESPN:

In addition to putting in some putting work, Pearman said DeChambeau was trying out a 72-degree wedge.

"It was like someone was flying over with a Goodyear Blimp and dropping golf balls onto the flags," Pearman told ESPN.

DeChambeau's short game was exceptionally sharp during Saturday's 69. And he drained bookend birdie bombs that kept him within two shots of the lead entering the final round.

After, he spent more time on Augusta National's lit range, but Knost's tweet (which gives a h/t to NHL Hall-of-Famer Jeremy Roenick) indicates the 31-year-old went back on Saturday night. And if he winds up winning on Sunday, he may have just started a new Masters tradition for those trying to slip on a green jacket.
