Ludvig Aberg's driver head snaps off during swing, still manages to drive par 4 somehow

April 06, 2024

Ludvig Aberg has turned plenty of heads since turning pro less than a year ago. On Saturday, though, he managed to do something that turned his own.

The 24-year-old Swede drove the par-4 17th hole at TPC San Antonio during the third round of the Valero Texas Open, but that wasn't the most impressive part of the shot. Aberg's golf ball wound up 11 feet from the pin—despite the fact that his driver head went flying upon contact.

Have a look at the wild sequence as Aberg's club snaps on impact that causes him to give a puzzled look before watching the amazing result:

According to ShotTracker, Aberg's ball traveled 301 yards and wound up pin high. These guys are good, huh?

Fortunately for Aberg, the rules of golf allow him to replace the broken club. Unfortunately for Aberg, he wasn't able to convert the eagle look. But a three under par front nine has him making a charge up the leader board as he looks for a second PGA Tour title ahead of his major championship debut at next week's Masters.
