Jon Gruden had the perfect response to YouTuber Grant Horvat having no idea who he is
For those who don't spend every waking minute doomscrolling on the internet (kudos to you, you are the real MVP), the first episode of The Internet Invitational—billed as the biggest golf tournament in the history of the internet—dropped on Tuesday. So far, two popular YouTube golfers, Grant Horvat and Luke Kwon, are grabbing all the social media headlines. Unfortunately for them, it's for all the wrong reasons.
Kwon drew the ire of Golf Twitter for oversleeping on Day 1 of the competition and missing his tee time. An egregious offense in a million-dollar tournament, as many pointed out. But he apparently made it much worse by showing zero signs of remorse about it.
Horvat's offense was far less offensive but no less headscratching. In a clip that's gone viral, Robby Berger, AKA BobDoesSports AKA the captain of one of the teams in The Internet Invitational, asks Horvat if he'd like to be paired with Super Bowl-winning head coach Jon Gruden, who is now an employee of Barstool Sports, which teamed up with BobDoes to run the event. Horvat's response? "I don't know who that is."
Yikes.
Most folks can live with you making millions to film yourself playing above average golf. What they cannot live with is a lack of ball knowledge. Those in the replies let Horvat have it:
Again, we're talking about a guy with 122 wins as a head coach in the NFL. A Super Bowl ring. A former lead analyst on Monday Night Football. Now one of the more popular football content creators in the game right now. Not knowing who Jon Gruden is is a major red flag.
