    Word spreading of Arnold Palmer's death at age 87 turned Sunday evening into one of the saddest nights in golf. And the immediate outpouring on social media by sports fans was overwhelming.

    Arnie was golf's greatest ambassadors, but his long-time rival, Jack Nicklaus, might just be golf's greatest player. One of the most touching tributes came from the 18-time major champion, who was one of Arnie's great friends later in life.

    Tiger Woods also expressed his sympathies in hearing about Arnie's passing.

    Augusta National and Chairman Billy Payne shared this about the death of the four-time Masters champion.
