Ja Rule drills longtime sports photographer with shank at Derek Jeter Invitational
If you see Ja Rule in concert, you can expect to hear him perform "Put it on me." If you see Ja Rule on a golf course, however, you have to worry about him putting a golf ball on you.
Those in attendance at the Derek Jeter Invitational in the Bahamas on Tuesday found that out. And one person found out the hard way. Literally.
In a video shared by Adam Schupak of Golfweek, Ja shanks a shot right into the crowd. As Shupak notes, "Ja Rule almost took me and a bunch of photographers out with his tee shot in the celebrity shootout at the Derek Jeter Invitational." Have a look:
To be fair to Ja, he had an announcer heckling him as he stepped over the shot. But, still, woof.
If you listen to the video, you can hear the ball making contact with someone before Ja says, "I hit you?! Oh my god." Well, that person turned out to be longtime sports photographer Rob Tringali, who shared a different angle of the shot on Instagram with the following caption:
"Didnโt have almost getting taken out on a stretcher by a golf ball hit by @jarule in the Bahamas during a @derekjeter celebrity golf event on my bingo card. Happy to know I can take a driven golf ball off the elbow with no damage. 37 years shooting live sports with no direct hits and the streak suddenly comes to an end."
Sorry about the streak, Rob, but glad to hear your elbow isn't shattered. Or worse.
"Glad youโre ok Rob!!! ๐๐๐พsorry i pegged ya but at least it went viralโฆ ๐," Ja Rule replied in the comments.
Once again, this is a reminder to please keep your head on a swivel at a golf tournament. Especially a celebrity golf tournament. And particularly when Ja Rule is on the tee.
