The insights of a tour caddie provide some of the most valuable nuggets to golf handicappers. Loopers are standing side by side with their players on the range, listening to the chatter amongst players and observing who has potential to pop in a given week.

We were fortunate to be joined by John Wood, a long-time caddie on the PGA Tour for Hunter Mahan, Matt Kuchar, Kevin Sutherland and others. Woody doesn't just have the knowledge of a looper, but he is now on the broadcast team for NBC and Golf Channel and has been covering each tournament the past few weeks as part of NBC's coverage of the Florida Swing. The former caddie joined us from on-site at PGA National as he was wrapping up his prep work on Tuesday.

Wood made some crucial observations about PGA National and how the Champion course might play a little differently this year than people expect—and he explains the type of player who should play well this week (in addition to giving us a player to watch this week). (14:33)

The insider tips from Wood are why Golf Digest has an anonymous tour caddie providing his picks each week in our GolfDigest.com experts picks column—which has correctly predicted four of the past six winnners on the PGA Tour, by the way. Make sure to go follow our red-hot experts (including Pat Mayo of Mayo Media Network and DraftKings; Brandon Gdula of numberFire/FanDuel and Rick Gehman, a data scientist and founder of RickRunGood.com.

Wood also recaps the action from The Players with us, after Justin Thomas’ big-time victory, which was a huge win for the gambling community, including our Christopher Powers, who followed JT on Sunday. We wrap up an exciting week at TPC Sawgrass before we get into our Honda Classic picks (29:54).
