The Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches was Austin Eckroat’s to win or lose from the moment he got up on Monday morning. The second-year PGA Tour pro had a one-shot lead with 11 holes remaining as the rain-delayed final round spilling over from Sunday. And the person who trailed him by that one shot, Erik van Rooyan, was already down the road at the Seminole Pro-Member, having finished his final round on Sunday with a spectacular 63 to close. Barring a chaser taking advantage of the soft conditions on the Champion Course at PGA National, Eckroat, 25, needed merely to play steady golf to close things out—a feat that’s easier said than done when you’re trying to claim your fist PGA Tour title.

Eckroat, however, did just that, playing his remaining holes on Monday in two under to post a final-round 67 and a 17-under 26. And while Min Woo Lee cut the lead to one after an eagle on the 10th hole, the Australian made just one more birdie coming in to tie van Rooyan at 14 under and claim a share of second.

It was Eckroat’s 50th career PGA Tour start, his best previous showing a second at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson. He earned a prize money payout of $1.62 million from the overall purse of $9 million, as well as a spot in the upcoming Masters and PGA Championship.

Here's the prize money payout for everyone who made the cut this year at PGA National.
