Kyle Westmoreland, an Air Force Academy graduate and a former Air Force captain, won the Korn Ferry Tour’s Astara Golf Championship on Sunday, his first victory in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event.

Westmoreland, 33, took a two-stroke lead into the final round by virtue of a course-record 10-under par 61 at Lagos Course at Country Club de Bogotá in Colombia, on Saturday, and followed it up with a one-under 70 on Sunday to win by one over Pierceson Coody. He completed 72 holes in 18-under par 265.

He opened the final round with a double-bogey to fall into a tie for first, but followed with three straight birdies. He also had three consecutive birdies late in his round, at 14, 15 and 16, to open a two-stroke lead.

Following his graduation from the Air Force Academy in 2014, he was required to complete a five-year stint in the Air Force. His service commitment ended in 2019, at which point he began to pursue a career in professional golf.

He made it to the PGA Tour in the 2022-23 season, played 32 events, but missed the cut in 22 of them to lose his card. He played the Korn Ferry Tour in 2024, making 15 cuts in 21 starts and finishing 38th on the money list.

This victory earned him $180,000, moving him to third on the Korn Ferry Tour money list.
