There was a lot of attention on Will Zalatoris with his stellar performance at the Masters and his final-round 67 earning a T-6 finish, but what you may have missed were the stylish golf shoes he wore from the recent FootJoy X Garrett Leight Optical collaboration. The two brands teamed up to release three golf shoes and one pair of sunglasses with tortoise styling that you don’t normally see on a golf shoe, but makes for a refined and on-trend statement piece. Here’s a look at the collection and the pieces Zalatoris wore at Augusta.

Garret Leight Optical (GLCO) is an eyewear brand out of California known for its upscale sunglasses. The eyewear is not golf-specific, but has caught the attention of many golfers for their classic styling, durable frames and lightweight feel. The brand collaborated with Jones Golf in 2020 on an eyewear and backpack capsule after Garrett Leight (founder and CEO of GLCO) played with Jones Sports Co.’s COO Chris Carnahan and CEO Matt Lemman in a tournament at Bandon Dunes hosted by Malbon Golf’s Stephen Malbon.

The sunglasses in the collection were inspired by Leight’s favorite golfer, Chi Chi Rodriguez. The vintage look is enhanced by contoured temples, a thick browline and a square frame-shape. Gold metal plating brings out the brown in the pattern and adds an elegant finish.

During tournament play, Zalatoris wore the FootJoy Packard golf shoe from the collaboration. It’s a simple white leather golf shoe with traditional styling and features a stripe of the glossy tortoise pattern across the side of the shoe. The brown-and-black speckled pattern is unique, easy to match with, and an effortless way to add style to a look without adding too much color.

The Packard is fully waterproof, made with calfskin leather that has a premium look and feel, while a cushioned orthotic-like footbed provides comfort and a bit of energy return. The spiked outsole is low-profile, but adds a ton of traction and stability.

For a bit more noticeable tortoise styling, the Tarlow golf shoe has the pattern at the lace and heel. The glossy detail contrasts the pebbled white leather shoe and traditional details expertly for a sophisticated looking golf shoe.

On the ladies’ side, the Women’s Premiere series has a similar cap toe design and classic round-toe with the tortoise print patent leather design on the upper part of the shoe. Simple black laces darken the print a bit and custom FJ X GLCO insoles add an extra fun touch.
