    Save for later

Rory McIlroy seemed pretty darn pleased with his Irish Open victory. And yet we can’t imagine that he was more excited than two particular fans at the K Club. The crowd behind McIlroy as he goes for an eagle and a playoff looks like a Renaissance painting, but we (and apparently everyone else) couldn't take our eyes off this father-son duo in pure jubilation.

Not long after these posts hit the Internet by storm, the celebrating pair realized that they had accidentally gone viral, with patriarch Len Hall perfectly responding with, “Oh jeez we're trending 🫣🤣🤣.” A “pure father/son moment” will do that for you, and it all happened because Len wanted to make sure his son had a good spot to watch what went down on the 18th hole.

“Etched in our memories, I had picked that spot earlier in the day as somewhere he could see the finishing hole without anyone standing in his way,” the father posted. “Little did I foresee the drama that unfolded.”

The fans were a big part of the story in Kildare, erupting with such force that even PGA Tour winners compared it to a Tiger Roar. Len Hall may have put it best: “It's amazing how 30k people can be deathly quiet....then....it went nuts.

Because it’s a dad and a son watching golf, there’s, of course, going to be a perfect forgetful dad moment, and this back-and-forth between Len and a commenter is exactly what you’d expect.

Sometimes you get so locked in, you forget what you’re doing with your hands. That’s how you know it was a phenomenal putt … with a phenomenal father-son duo losing their minds in the background.
