Save for later

Sergio Garcia is coming home to the DP World Tour, but at least one of his peers isn't happy about it.

The 46-year-old Spaniard announced on Thursday that he's leaving LIV to return "to the tour that has been a huge part of my career from the very beginning" and that he's "also keeping my options open for a return to the PGA Tour."

So what's the big deal? Well, he left both tours on pretty terrible terms when he went to LIV Golf in 2022. A viral video at the Wells Fargo Championship that year caught him saying, "I can't wait to leave this tour" in regards to the PGA Tour. And a month after that the Daily Telegraph reported he went on a similar NSFW rant regarding the DP World Tour.

Fans were quick to point those things out on Thursday after Garcia's announcement so it should be no surprise that players haven't forgotten as well. And one of those players is Eddie Pepperell, who responded with this fiery tweet at Sergio:

"This has to be Sergio trolling us? Surely. Elite level sh--housery, this," the two-time DP World Tour winner wrote. "Or has he got dementia?"

As you can see, Eddie did NOT hold back. And we might need to start using the term sh--housery more. That's a good one.

Anyway, it's understandable that DP World Tour players who didn't take the LIV bag are a little ticked that some of those who did are getting to return. And are taking spots from loyal DP World Tour players, a tricky situation Joel Beall wrote about earlier this week.

It's also understandable that Pepperell would be extra feisty after finishing No. 101 on the season-long DP World Tour standings to lose full playing privileges for next season. Regardless, it doesn't appear Sergio will be the most popular guy on the range when he shows up for his first tournament back.
