Collin Morikawa splits with only caddie he's ever had as a pro, hires a familiar face as replacement

Collin Morikawa will have a new caddie the next time he tees it up, but it will be a familiar face to PGA Tour fans.
The two-time major champ parted ways with JJ Jakovac, the only looper Morikawa has had since turning pro in 2019. Morikawa replaced Jakovac with Joe Greiner, a move that was first reported on Tuesday by Colt Knost on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio.
Greiner has been in the news a lot of late, first splitting with longtime boss Max Homa earlier this month. Homa said at the Masters that it was Greiner's decision.
But while he searched for a new bag, Greiner worked for Justin Thomas at the Masters and at Hilton Head, where he helped another two-time major champ end a three-year winless drought on the PGA Tour. That gig was only temporary, though, with Thomas' regular caddie, Matt Minister, sidelined by an injury.
Jakovac, a former NCAA D-II individual champion, was on the bag for all six of Morikawa's PGA Tour titles, including a pair of majors at the 2020 PGA Championship and 2021 Open Championship. He also made the first hole-in-one on TPC Sawgrass' 17th hole in 25 years of the Wednesday caddie contest in March. However, the duo hadn't won in 18 months.
Morikawa and Greiner will make their first start together at next week's Truist Championship at Philadelphia Cricket Club. It will be their lone tournament before the year's second major, the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, the following week. It should be noted that Greiner caddied Homa to two wins at the Charlotte course.
