Soft conditions at TPC Craig Ranch led to an old-fashioned Texas shootout at the AT&T Byron Nelson, and K.H. Lee's final-round 6-under 66 gave him a three-shot victory over Sam Burns for his first PGA Tour title.

Now in his third full season on the PGA Tour, Lee has shown promise having amassed more than $1 million in earnings this season entering the week, including a T-2 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. The 29-year-old from South Korea also has four career wins in Asia to his credit. None of that, however, portended the kind of play Lee exhibited this week.

Lee carded 28 birdies—the second-most in the field—against a mere three bogeys over 72 holes. Strong iron play throughout the week put him in good position and solid putting allowed him to take full advantage of those opportunities.

Lee ranked second in strokes gained/approach with his Callaway X Forged CB irons—an iron that boasts a multi-material, forged construction in a players shape. Lee used the irons to pick up more than eight shots on the field while hitting 58 of 72 greens for a 80.56 percentage, good enough for T-5 in the field.

That provided Lee with enough birdie looks and he made good use of them, ranking sixth in putts per green in regulation as well as ninth in strokes gained/putting with his Odyssey Toulon San Diego blade-style putter.

In other words, the proper tools to win an old-fashioned shootout in Texas.
