Caitlin Clark narrowly misses hole-in-one, talks trash after making birdie

October 14, 2024

After a year of breaking records with her long-distance shooting on the basketball court, Caitlin Clark almost connected from WAY downtown on the golf course.

The WNBA superstar and avid golfer made it known recently that she intended to play a lot of golf this offseason. And if you follow her on Instagram, you'd know that she's keeping her promise.

But it also looks like her game is getting sharper—which is good because she entered the upcoming Annika Pro-Am—as evidenced by a video going viral on Monday. In it, Clark comes close to making a hole-in-one, and gives a fantastic reaction that includes her falling on the ground in disbelief and yelling "Are we sure it didn't go in?! Are we sure?!" Have a look and listen:

Sadly, it did not go in. In fact, "inches away" is being generous. But it was still a great shot, Caitlin.

The best part of the video, however, actually comes after Clark converts her birdie putt in what looks to be a match against Indiana Fever teammate Lexi Hull. As Clark plucks her own ball from the hole, she gives a huge "WOO!" then turns to Hull and says, "Now, the pressure's on for you." Apparently, Clark treats a regular round of golf like the Final Four or the WNBA Playoffs.

We're not sure why Clark went first from closer range, but in any event, Hull misses her putt. And Clark runs over with a giant "HA, HA, HA!" Damn, that's cold, Caitlin.

But, hey, that competitive spirit is part of the reason why she's so good. The celebrity golf circuit better watch out.
