'oh, that's really good'

Bryson DeChambeau hits wedge shot over mansion, very nearly aces first attempt

November 13, 2024

The problem with living in an apartment—other than the absurd rent, ridiculous landlords and minimal room—is that it’s tough to do golf trick shots. Yeah, sure, you can putt down the hallway or try out little chips into a mug, but to properly golf at home, you need a yard, a bit of grass and a house to hit over.

Bryson DeChambeau does not have this problem. Between the LIV Golf moolah and the countless sponsorships, the 31-year-old has a nice Dallas mansion ready for trick shots of all sorts. Because he’s exactly who he is, Bryson decided to hit a wedge shot over his house onto his backyard green. Don't try this at home, kids.

“Oh, that’s really good,” DeChambeau said immediately after the chip, and boy was it! Very nearly an ace out of the gate.

It seems like this will be a customary routine for DeChambeau until he sinks the (frankly insane) shot. He very nearly nailed it on his first try, but a miss is for the best. That means there’ll be more content and more opportunity for chaos.

Speaking of, this should be the follow-up to The Showdown. Let’s play some H-O-R-S-E with golf trick shots. Rory McIlroy putting off the roof. Scottie Scheffler hitting a drive through the kitchen window. Brooks Koepka chipping it to turn on a washing machine. This is how we unite golf. Once again, Bryson is on the cutting edge.
