I found a pair of women’s golf pants I like. And that’s saying something

Save for later

If there’s one thing I don’t have too much of, it’s women’s golf pants that I really like. I’ve been playing golf for 30 years and have yet to experience the perfect golf pant. The pants that I find most comfortable usually look a bit too athletic and casual to really feel like golf pants. Sure, I’m comfy. But I’m looking over my shoulder, waiting for a dress code violation to be reported.

I’ve found waistbands that are a bit too tight; I see what they’re doing, trying to keep the pants from moving during the swing. But at what cost?

I’ve found pants that are too long. This is partially my fault, because I’m 5-foot-5. But whatever I’m wearing on the golf course shouldn’t drag in the dewy grass, right?

I’ve found pants that are too short—I’m not interested in something that looks like capris at the moment.

I’ve found pants without pockets. I need pockets.

I’ve found pants made of great materials that are comfortable but unflattering. I could go on.

So when I put on a pair of golf pants that I feel good in, I feel like I should share. These Adidas Originals pants are made of cotton and polyester with a bit of elastane, which gives the pants just a little stretch. They’re not made of a performance fabric that’s going to wick sweat away, but that doesn’t bother me because if I’m reaching for pants, it’s cold out and I don’t plan on sweating.

At the waistband, there is some grippy material. So, beyond the zip and button closure, you have a little extra support holding these pants in place while you swing, bend over to tee up the ball and pull the ball out of the cup.

They’re a mid-rise pant, which hits right below the belly button me. These pants have ample pockets, front and back. And though on the model they look short and rather loose, they fall right about at my ankle and are more fitted on me.

I can’t say these pants are perfect. I wish they had a little bit more stretch to them. And the cotton material won’t work for everyone. The aesthetic is such that you could wear these to the office – so if that’s not what you’re looking for in a golf pant, don’t go with them.

The simple, polished look and functionality of these pants have earned them a place in my golf wardrobe. One of a very few golf pants to hold such an honor.
