It’s been less than a week since Grayson Murray’s death, and the golf world is still recovering from the devastating loss. Fellow golfers have been paying tribute to their friend and competitor in various ways, including this lovely touch from Akshay Bhatia at this week’s RBC Canadian Open.

“Let’s ride today G,” Bhatia wrote on his Insta Stories, along with a photo of G$ written on his arm. The two North Carolina natives became close on the course, coming up around the same time on the Korn Ferry Tour, and this is a nice way for Bhatia to pay homage.

“Words can’t describe how tough this is,” Bhatia wrote last week after the news broke. “A great friend that always supported me as I did to him. I’m gonna miss you so much man. You fought so hard.”

Bhatia was one of the first to congratulate Murray after the latter’s Sony Open in Hawaii victory back in January. Bhatia met up with Grayson on the green right after the win and told him that he knew the putt was going to find the hole.

“I told her on that last putt, I’m like, ‘It’s going in the hole.’ ”

“Just like you, buddy,” Murray responded. “We’re going to push each other to be No. 1 and No. 2 in the world.”

Just like Murray, Bhatia won his first full-field PGA Tour event in 2024, winning the Valero Texas Open the week before the Masters. The two each made their Masters debuts this year.
