Aaron Rodgers called the Davante Adams trade on the golf course over three months ago
If you were surprised by the Davante Adams to the New York Jets trade on Tuesday morning, then you haven't been paying attention. The only truly shocking thing was that it took this long.
Back in July, Aaron Rodgers more or less telegraphed that he'd rekindle with his old flame on the golf course, where things are known to get done. Of course, it took over three more months to get done, but it got done.
The move was undoubtedly expedited by the 2-4 start from Rodgers' Jets, which culminated in Monday night's debacle of a loss to the AFC East Division rival Buffalo Bills. The very next morning, the former Green Bay Packers wide receiver and current Las Vegas Raider was announced to be heading to the Big Apple.
Here's Rodgers at the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe back in July saying "I can't wait to play with him [Adams]... again."
In typical Rodgers fashion, he clarified a few weeks later during training camp that he meant on the golf course. Adams is a big-time golfer himself, but you'd have to be the most naive person on the planet to actually believe that's what Rodgers meant.
Tuesday morning's news all but confirms that fact, not to mention the fact that Adams hasn't played since Week 3 due to a "hip injury" that we're confident will magically heal in time for his Gang Green debut on Sunday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Whenever he suits up, it remains clear that there is one guy running the show in Jet Land, and it's not owner Woody Johnson, nor is it General Manager Joe Douglas or interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich.
