Here’s the prize money payout for each golfer at the 2024 Black Desert Championship

It’s rare when there’s a whole lot of history being made at a fall event on the PGA Tour but there were two significant headlines entering this week at the Black Desert Championship. For starters, it was the first time since 1963 that the tour has returned to Utah, playing on a course designed on a lava field in Ivins.
Secondly, 65-year-old Jay Don Blake was making his 500th tour start after being given a sponsor's invite. Blake last played in a tour event in 2018 and won his only tour title back in 1991. He was born and still lives in St. George and attended Utah State. (Last week 71-year-old Reed Hughes played in the Sanderson Farms Championship in Mississippi.)
By Sunday, a little more history was in the offing with Matt McCarty walking off with his first PGA Tour title in just his third start in a PGA Tour event. The 26-year-old from Scottsdale, Ariz., earned a battlefield promotion off his success on the Korn Ferry Tour and rode that momentum to a three-stroke victory with rounds of 62-68-64-67. In the process, he became just the second player to win on the PGA Tour in the same season after earning the Korn Ferry Tour’s Three-Victory Promotion, joining Jason Gore (2005 84 Lumber Classic).
The victory earned McCarty a prize money payout of $1.35 million from the overall purse of $7.5 million.
A reminder, full status is on the line during this stretch of the fall season along with entry into two early signature events in 2025—the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Genesis Invitational. As part of the Aon Next 10, those ranked Nos. 51-60 will play in those two events. Seamus Power, Patrick Rodgers, Harris English and Nick Taylor are all in that category and in the field this week. Those from 61-125 will retain full status for next year and Nos. 126-150 will have conditional status. All those players can improve status by playing in PGA Tour Q-School.
Here’s the rundown of the prize money payout each player who makes the cut this week will earn. Check back here Sunday after play is complete for updates.
